Once filled the four pieces do not interlock cleanly so one segment sticks up a little higher. Still need it, just wish it fit together better.

This base is plastic, but it is sturdy although with rest of the umbrella being aluminum I'm not sure why they skimped on the design and didn't make it as nice of the quality to match the umbrella.

Only negative was it was a bit cumbersome to fill each of the four sections with sand. Two of the sections are ribbed on the bottom side, and need to use a stick to shove sand into the ends of each section. This would not deter me from buying again.
