The top drawers are all velvet lined and the rail between the top two and lower drawers actually pills out to a sliding drawer that is also velvet lined. The bottom drawer is made of cedar. Out of the whole set we ordered this was the only piece that was not damaged during production. We could not see any areas that were chipped, scored, broken, etc. All of the handles were snug. The drawers are on a wood slide so some are harder to open and close than others, this should wear in or could be waxed. The only down side that is consistent with these pieces is the wood on the inside is very rough and sharp, so if you are trying to put away cloths that are not jeans and it sits high enough to come into contact with the rail above the drawer it will catch and snag it.
